NYHS Stewardship Model

The Stewardship Model was developed as a guiding framework for planning curriculum and project-based learning opportunities for students at the NYHS. It was based on the work of our partner organization, Waterkeeper Alliance, which works around the globe to protect endangered waterbodies.

The NYHS Stewardship Model asks students to approach any new learning situation in the following manner:
1) Observe and Identify a Problem
2) Generate Questions
3) Research
4) Make a Plan
5) Act/Advocate/Present
6) Assess/Reflect on Your Effectiveness
7) Plan Your Next Steps

Departments at NYHS are working hard to integrate the Stewardship Model into courses in all content areas.
