Harbor Aquatics is an after-school program designed to instruct Harbor School students in competitive swimming techniques, team building, leadership, and competition. Last year, 27 students of all levels of experience and ability participated in the competitive swimming program, with even more participating in learn-to-swim Saturdays.
Harbor Aquatic’s competitive season consists of two phases: September through December and February through April. In the 2012-2013 season, swimming practices were held three times a week for 1.5 hours in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick, with dryland training sessions also available after-school on Governors Island. The season culminated with Harbor Aquatic’s first competitive swim meet against George Washington High School in Washington Heights.
