Vuelva pronto para leer lo que han estado haciendo los graduados de Harbor School desde que zarparon.

The expansion of the Harbor School on Governors Island marks a major $50 million investment in maritime and environmental education. The project doubles the campus from two to four buildings, adds 445 new student seats, and brings in new classrooms, laboratories, a gym, and—after strong advocacy from staff, parents, and community members—a full-sized competitive swimming pool essential to the school’s aquatic curriculum. The historic Building 555, dating back to 1938, is also being restored to provide 32,000 square feet of modern classroom space.

Community voices played a decisive role in shaping the final design, with local leaders praising the School Construction Authority and the Trust for Governors Island for responding to feedback about the pool and other needs. Managed by the Urban Assembly, the Harbor School continues to offer a college-preparatory experience centered on New York City’s maritime industries, environmental stewardship, and career pathways in marine science and green technology. At the groundbreaking, Mayor Eric Adams highlighted how the expanded facilities will support students as they move into the city’s fast-growing green jobs sector, from renewable energy to emerging environmental technologies.
