Clara Owen

Originally from North Carolina, I moved to New York City in 2013 and have proudly called Brooklyn home ever since. At Harbor School, I serve as the School Library Media Specialist and centrally funded intervention teacher, focusing on reading and literacy support. I also co-teach AP Literature. Before transitioning to the library, I spent a decade teaching English and special education and completed the Teachers2Librarians program to become a certified librarian.

I’m passionate about making the library a welcoming space for curiosity, creativity, and connection, and about helping every student grow as a reader and learner. Outside of school, I love biking around the city, reading thought-provoking books, traveling with my partner, being in nature, and unwinding with my cat or a good Bravo show.
