Davere Hanson

Davere Hanson is a dedicated educator, maritime enthusiast, and athletic mentor currently serving as a Vessel Operations & Success via Apprenticeship (SVA) Teacher Candidate at the New York Harbor School and the Billion Oyster Project, under the NYC Public School System.

In his role, Davere plays a key part in training and mentoring students in hands-on work aboard the school’s vessels, fostering both practical seamanship and environmental stewardship. A passionate proponent of marine-based education, Davere collaborates closely with the Billion Oyster Project—an organization committed to restoring oyster reefs in New York Harbor. His responsibilities include cultivating student interest in marine science, organizing field experiences, and integrating a curriculum that connects students with real-world ecological restoration.
