Principal
Michael Hojnacki is the Principal of the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School, a distinctive maritime-focused institution in the heart of New York Harbor. With over 15 years of leadership experience in NYC public schools, he is deeply committed to advancing student achievement, equity, and community engagement.
He began his career as a science teacher, leveraging his research background to ignite student curiosity and foster hands-on learning. He later advanced to leadership roles, including Assistant Principal in both Manhattan and Staten Island, where he expanded academic programs and championed innovative school-wide initiatives.
Mr. Hojnacki was also a member of the Advanced Leadership Program for Aspiring Principals (ALPAP), a competitive, year-long principal-preparation initiative offered by the CSA’s Executive Leadership Institute.
