Dear Harbor School Senior Families,
As we approach winter break, I want to share an important update on financial aid applications. As of today, 23 out of 101 senior families have completed the FAFSA. If your family hasn't applied yet, now is the time. Both the FAFSA and TAP applications are open and easy to complete.
Important Note: You can complete both the FAFSA and TAP applications before submitting college applications. You don't need to wait!
Why Apply Now?
While the federal deadline is June 30, 2027, some forms of aid (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and Federal Work-Study) are distributed first-come, first-served. Many colleges also have priority deadlines in early 2026 for their own scholarships and grants. The sooner you submit your application, the better your chances of maximizing your financial aid.
FAFSA (All Families)
The FAFSA determines eligibility for federal and institutional aid for colleges, community colleges, trade schools, vocational programs, and apprenticeships.
TAP (NY State Schools Only)
If your student will attend college in New York State, also complete the TAP application for up to $5,665 in additional grant aid. TAP must be completed after the FAFSA.

CSS Profile
Finally, please check with your student's desired institutions to see if they require the CSS Profile. This form is generally required by private colleges and universities and some public institutions to determine eligibility for their own institutional financial aid. Not all schools require it, so be sure to verify each school's requirements.

If you have any questions about the financial aid process or need assistance completing these applications, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Warm regards,
