Dear Class of 2026 Students and Families,
I am pleased to announce that Christina Lofaso, Admissions Director at Stony Brook University, will be visiting our school on Friday, October 3rd. She will be conducting an admissions information session during all Senior Advisory classes.
This is a unique opportunity for students to hear directly from a senior admissions professional. Ms. Lofaso will not only share important details about Stony Brook University, but also provide expert insight into the college admissions process overall.
Why Attendance Matters
This session will provide valuable information for all students, regardless of whether Stony Brook is on their college list.
Students will gain insider knowledge to help them strengthen their college applications.
Attendance is required, as this session is considered part of the Senior Advisory program.
What Students Should Do
Arrive on time to your advisory period.
Bring a notebook and pen (or charged device) to take notes.
Prepare 2–3 questions ahead of time about Stony Brook or the admissions process.
Sample questions could include:
What does Stony Brook look for in a strong applicant?
What support services are available for first-generation or EOP/HEOP students?
What financial aid, scholarships, or honors opportunities are offered?
What makes an application stand out, and what common mistakes should be avoided?
I strongly encourage families to support their students in brainstorming thoughtful questions before Friday’s session.
Thank you for ensuring your student comes prepared and engaged for this important learning opportunity.
Warm regards,
--
